Energy Transition Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Energy Transition Specialist to accelerate Victoria's transition to renewables.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a dynamic team, shaping our strategic direction and helping achieve the state's renewable energy target of 95% by 2035.

  1. Key Responsibilities:
    • Market Analysis: Model and forecast energy market trends to provide valuable insights that inform decision-making.
    • Data Management: Develop and improve robust tools and systems that deliver data-driven insights to support initiatives across the organisation.
    • Scenario Planning: Support the team in developing alternative views of the energy transition pathway through the collation of expert energy market knowledge and exercising professional judgement.

Requirements:

  1. Tertiary qualifications in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or a related field (Honours/Advanced qualifications desirable).
  2. 3+ years' experience in the Australian energy market, with exposure to wholesale markets, renewable energy, energy retailing, financial markets, or trading systems.
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and models to generate actionable insights.
  4. Proficient in data processing and workflow development using Python, R, SQL, or similar programming languages.
  5. Skilled in developing analytical and reporting tools using Advanced Excel, PowerBI, and/or Tableau.
  6. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders and thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
