Role Description



This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team at Edith Cowan University, as we embark on a major transformation with the launch of ECU City in the heart of Perth. The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) will join ECU's School of Business and Law, School of Arts and Humanities, School of Science, and more, in the CBD.



The Library Services Centre provides innovative, high-quality, customer-focused library services, including digital and information literacies, research skills, information resources, scholarly and cultural collections, and learning facilities that contribute to and enhance the University's learning, teaching, and research goals.



The Library delivers a wide range of online resources and services to all campus and study locations and to clients both on and off-campus. The Library is also responsible for the overall management and control of the University's record-keeping program, including the governance and management of business information and the provision of advisory services to Schools and Business Centres on record-keeping best practices.



Key Responsibilities



  1. Complete the final phase of the Library Collections review across all campuses, ensuring alignment with University needs and space requirements at each location.

  2. Plan and coordinate the transition of Library Collections between campuses, ensuring minimal disruption to services and adherence to updated space requirements.

  3. Report regularly on project progress to the project team and key stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication.

  4. Develop detailed relocation plans in collaboration with the ECU City project team, covering timelines, logistics, sequencing, and resources for each move.

  5. Collaborate on development and implementation of communication plans to inform Library users about collection changes, explaining the rationale for deselection, transition timelines, and potential impacts.

  6. Build and maintain strong relationships and strategic partnerships across teams, directorates, and schools, including effective communication, negotiation, and issues management to ensure project deliverables are met.



Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will have:





  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in academic libraries, including awareness of trends in library services, collection management activities, and familiarity with scholarly information resources.

  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise, coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines efficiently, and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic environments, develop and implement new ideas, and innovate to enhance processes and practices.

  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service, understanding, and meeting the needs of both internal and external stakeholders at various levels.

  • Proven ability to organise and present information clearly and engagingly to diverse audiences, ensuring clarity and understanding.

  • Ability to build cooperative relationships, engage in productive discussions, respect diverse viewpoints, and collaborate effectively for joint success.
