As an Environmental Management Specialist at GFG Alliance, you will play a critical role in supporting the site-based operational and functional teams in adhering to global environmental standards, legal compliance, and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist support on environmental management aspects to operational teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, environmental approvals, and internal company standards.
  • Contributing to the site-based risk identification and assessment process, including design control principles and supporting documentation.
  • Maintaining site-based plans, procedures, and work instructions relevant to the function.
  • Planning and executing work to meet environmental regulatory commitments and internal requirements.
  • Preparing and submitting environmental regulatory and internal reports relevant to the operation.
  • Identifying and implementing improvement projects that support compliance with regulatory or internal standard requirements, and/or enable a more efficient delivery of functional support to the operation.

You will be a result-focused individual with a collaborative and inclusive mindset, who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and collaborating with multiple stakeholders across functions and organizations.

Key qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science and/or Environmental Engineering (ideally).
  • Detailed understanding of local regulatory requirements and environmental licensing arrangements.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Sound understanding of environmental management processes and technologies.
  • Previous experience in a similar industry, such as mining or heavy industry.
  • Experience developing and maintaining sound working relationships with external stakeholders, such as regulators and community groups.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and self-manage priorities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
