The successful candidate will contribute to our strategy through scientific excellence and translate research outcomes into meaningful impact. They will shape and grow their own research team and develop their research program with generous resources.

Ex vivo models will enhance understanding of pathogenesis and immune responses for diseases like African swine fever, Lumpy skin disease and African horse sickness. The development of ex vivo models and techniques will support vaccine and drug development programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of ex vivo techniques, including primary tissue and stem cell culture.
  • Plan, manage and critically assess the development of 2D and 3D culture systems in infectious disease studies.
  • Collaborate, supervise and train staff for research projects.
  • Provide experience and expertise in cell biology.
  • Facilitate the translation of human ex vivo systems into animal-based systems.

Requirements

You will need relevant postgraduate qualifications, established knowledge and expertise in cell biology or related field. You should be recognised by peers as making a significant contribution in your field of science or engineering.

Have a track record of translating scientific outcomes into impact. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate at the intersection of disciplines. Bring an extensive network which you can share across the organisation.
