Job Title: Maintenance Superintendent

At the heart of any successful maintenance operation lies a strategic leader who can drive performance, reliability, and efficiency. We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Superintendent to join our team in this critical role.

The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day maintenance activities of our fixed plant, ensuring that all equipment operates safely and efficiently. This involves developing and implementing preventative maintenance strategies, managing contractor performance, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing preventative maintenance plans to ensure asset longevity and reliability
  • Ensuring all fixed plant and equipment operate safely and within statutory requirements
  • Leading and overseeing asset management plans, including rebuilds, major inspections, and lifecycle strategies
  • Managing consumables and optimizing screen media usage to minimize unnecessary costs or waste
  • Ensuring critical components and spares are managed effectively to minimize plant downtime
  • Monitoring and acting on findings from gearbox condition monitoring
  • Conducting fixed plant health checks using established methodologies to ensure proactive maintenance and compliance
  • Managing contractor performance to ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with service expectations
  • Tracking and controlling repairs and maintenance costs to ensure conformance with targets
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring scheduled maintenance procedures are followed
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance planning, plant performance, and safety

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Relevant trade qualification (e.g. Fitter, Mechanic, Boilermaker)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a fixed plant maintenance environment (quarry, mining, or heavy industry preferred)
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Working knowledge of SAP CMMS or similar systems
  • Strong understanding of safety systems, risk management, and Zero Harm principles
  • Working at Heights, EWP license, and manual driver's license
  • A proactive, solutions-driven mindset with a passion for troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Strong team leadership, planning, and interpersonal skills to engage with both internal teams and external contractors
