Principal Landfill Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking a seasoned environmental professional to join our team as a Principal Landfill Specialist in the field of Environmental Remediation. This key role will involve working on various projects related to landfill assessment, supervision, design, peer review, audit and expert witness.
Key Responsibilities- Design and implementation of landfill cells and liners
- Development and operation of leachate and landfill gas capture and treatment systems
- Landfill rehabilitation and development initiatives
- Environmental impact assessments, risk assessments, and monitoring programs
- Design and assessment of landfill gas and soil vapour mitigation systems
- A postgraduate qualification in environmental science or engineering or other relevant degree and circa 6-12+ years of professional experience in consulting or a similar industry role
- Proven expertise in environmental / contamination management (soil and groundwater)/ remediation (soil and groundwater), soil science, preferably in the development, mining and oil and gas sectors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team player capable of working independently and collaborating with other consultants from in-house and external experts
- High-level understanding of key landfill engineering elements
- Expertise with EPA expectations and requirements for landfill operators
- Experience in leading the preparation of engineering designs and/or environmental risk assessments and monitoring programs
- Experience in leading contaminated land assessments, CAD and GIS an advantage but not a necessity
