Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Health Professional to join our team. As a key member of our Environment Health group, you will play a vital role in protecting public health and enhancing the environmental systems of Camden LGA.

The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications in environmental health, applied science, or a related discipline, coupled with substantial experience in environmental health, monitoring, and regulatory functions at a senior level.

You will be responsible for reviewing and critically assessing complex development proposals and technical reports, providing authoritative recommendations, and making high-level decisions on environmental and public health risks across air, noise, water, land, and human health domains.

Key Responsibilities
  • Exercise sound professional judgment in complex and high-risk situations, interpreting legislation and data to inform decisions.
  • Lead effective implementation through collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to protect and enhance public health and the environmental systems of Camden LGA.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve conflicts and improve organisational processes.
  • Contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures related to environmental health.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental health, applied science, or a related discipline.
  • Substantial experience in environmental health, monitoring, and regulatory functions at a senior level.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and negotiation skills.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying, and enforcing relevant environmental and public health legislation.
  • Current Class C driver's licence.
