Job Opportunity: Environmental Specialist

The role of the Environmental Specialist is a key position in supporting environmental compliance and sustainability strategies, acting as a business resource for technical and advisory matters relating to all aspects of the environment.

This role provides support to the Health, Safety, and Environment team and Management Teams within their respective jurisdictions at multiple levels within the organization.

The Environmental Specialist will play a critical role in supporting future planned programs of work, reducing external consultant engagement impacts, and delivering key environmental and sustainability objectives and commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's Environmental Management System.
  • Ensure that the Environmental Management System certification (ISO 14001) is maintained.
  • Provide technical advice and support to the HSE team regarding environmental matters.
  • Identify, assess, and consult on Environmental Aspects and Impacts.
  • Support accurate and relevant environmental performance monitoring.
  • Provide technical advice and support to senior leaders for best business considerations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma of Environmental Management or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an Environmental advisor or compliance role, preferably regulated industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Environment and Quality Management System frameworks.
  • Experience in data analysis for environmental aspects.
  • Familiarity with incident investigation methodologies.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in conducting internal management system audits.
