Job Title: Senior Coastal Engineer

About the Opportunity:
This is a fantastic chance to work with our talented and respected engineering team in Australia. As part of our National Maritime Team, you will be involved in the design and planning activities for large-scale multi-discipline maritime facilities for various industries including defence, local government, state government, ports, and sustainability (hydrogen terminals). You will apply your existing experience across these different industries and gain exposure to new and interesting projects. You will be supported by and get to work with a range of other disciplines across our partners.

The Projects We Work On:
While you may know some of our high-profile projects, such as the nuclear powered submarine facility upgrades (HMAS Stirling, Perth), we do much more than just defence. Our team works on large-scale clean energy (Port Bonython Hydrogen Hub, Adelaide), boating infrastructure (Clump Point Boat Ramp, North Queensland), wharf and port infrastructure (Port of Brisbane, Wharf 11 & 12), and remediation of valuable public assets (Central Pier, Melbourne).

Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Coastal Engineer, you will leverage your existing coastal engineering experience to deliver everything from concept designs through to construction phase support. While this is primarily a technical role, you will be given opportunities for leadership (project management and design management), and business development (proposal preparation and client positioning).

Requirements:
We typically look for individuals with between 2 and 5 years experience who possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience in the design, evaluation and reporting on ports, harbours, coastal works and marine structures (wharves, jetties, port developments, marinas, seawalls, pontoons, dredging)
  • Knowledge of coastal modelling software (DELFT-3D, SWAN, MIKE) is desirable
  • Previous experience working with local governments, port clients, and/or the Defence sector
  • Familiarity with Australian design codes and guidelines
  • Demonstrated skills in providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff to enhance their skills and capability
  • Ability to project manage and/or design manage small maritime projects
  • Chartered Professional Engineer or ability to get chartership within an agreed timeframe
  • Tertiary degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering
