**Role Summary**

The First Nations Community Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the development and inclusion of First Nations children with disabilities or developmental delays. This position is open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants only, under Section 14D of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

Key Responsibilities
  • Building strong relationships with First Nations families to ensure their voices and preferences are at the forefront.
  • Undertaking observations of a child in their natural environment to assess their functioning and support needs.
  • Supporting First Nations families to establish meaningful goals & aspirations for their child and family, and tracking progression toward goals.
  • Providing community connections and linkages to mainstream services in the local area to improve children's access to the right supports and meaningful social participation.
  • Working within the framework of the Best Practice Guidelines in Early Intervention.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience working with First Nations children and families, understand child development (0-9 years), know and be connected to local First Nations communities, and be confident in building community networks and service pathways.

Essential Requirements
  • Aboriginality confirmed by a common seal and a reference from an Aboriginal organisation or community group.
  • Tertiary qualification in Early Childhood or Allied Health is desirable.
  • Understanding of child protection principles and Keep Them Safe.
  • Valid Driver's Licence (P1 minimum) and willingness to travel across Northern NSW.
  • WWCC & NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Full Australian working rights.
