We are seeking an experienced legal professional to play a critical role in shaping our global compliance with online safety frameworks and safe harbor laws. As a key member of our team, you will advise on our legal takedown practices and policies, providing guidance on user notices and government-issued takedown requests.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of intermediary liability frameworks, with experience litigating cases involving intermediary liability. You will be responsible for advising on content-related legal issues, assessing and advising on a broad set of legal standards, and explaining complex legal concepts to non-lawyers.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on global compliance with online safety frameworks and safe harbor laws
- Support managing our legal takedown process, including providing legal guidance on handling user notices and government-issued takedown requests
- Provide legal advice across the organization on platform liability, including issue-spotting and strategizing solutions for new products
- Work with internal and external counsel and government affairs experts to track evolving legal requirements across territories where we operate
- Collaborate with Product and Trust & Safety teams to assess and implement online safety features
- Work on proactive enforcement efforts regarding potential abuse of the platform
- Provide legal support for litigations and press inquiries arising out of content takedown issues
- A Law degree or equivalent
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience working in a law firm and/or in-house legal department
- Deep understanding of intermediary liability frameworks, with a preference for experience litigating cases involving intermediary liability
- Proven expertise in content-related legal issues
- Experience in assessing and advising on a broad set of legal standards
- Ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-lawyers
- A problem solver who stays calm when problems arise
- A builder who can work collaboratively with non-lawyers on finding practical solutions
- Self-motivated and able to identify and complete work without instruction
