Health and Safety Advisor

The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective implementation of health and safety systems, fostering a culture of compliance, and promoting strategic safety objectives across mining and refinery projects.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance on adherence to legislation, standards, and policies.
  • Mentor site teams and contractors in safe work practices.
  • Enforce site-specific safety procedures and promote safety leadership.
  • Identify hazards and assess risks, recommending control measures when necessary.
  • Participate in risk reviews for critical projects and investigate incidents and near misses.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Promote safety KPIs and recognition programs.
  • Conduct inductions, toolbox talks, and deliver safety training.
  • Perform inspections and audits, maintaining accurate safety records.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in mining, construction, and operations.
  • Contractor management and field leadership skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making under pressure.
  • Effective time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and influence at all levels.
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience with major mining/refining companies is advantageous.
Qualifications
  • Diploma in Occupational/Work Health & Safety.
  • Construction Induction (White Card).
  • Advanced First Aid certification.
