Legal Counsel

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team at Quest Apartment Hotels. As a key member of our Corporate Business Unit, you will provide general legal support and advice to the business as required.
Key Responsibilities- Support the General Counsel and Senior Legal Counsel in the preparation, negotiation, and administration of Leases (including lease renewals, lease variations, and ancillary documents).
- Support the Chief Finance and Commercial Officer with corporate structure matters, agreement review, and tax and finance issues for the Quest and Ascott Managed Estate Portfolio.
- Support the General Counsel and General Manager – Growth in the preparation and negotiation of Offers to Lease, Agreements for Lease, and Leases, and furniture procurement contracts for new serviced apartment accommodation developments.
- Support the General Counsel, Senior Legal Counsel, and General Manager – Franchise Operations in the preparation and negotiation of franchise agreements, business sale agreements, and associated documentation.
- Support the General Counsel, Senior Legal Counsel, Chief Marketing & Digital Officer, and General Manager - Sales in relation to brand and sales-related matters, including Privacy Act compliance, accommodation tender responses, supply agreements, protection of intellectual property, compliance with ACCC requirements, and negotiation of commercial agreements.
- Provide autonomous, high-quality legal services to Ascott Australia, assisting the business to achieve its strategic goals, manage risks, and protect the brand.
- Minimum 2 years' experience with a well-regarded law firm or in-house organization.
- Demonstrated experience in drafting lease documents is required.
- Demonstrated experience in advising on a broad range of commercial issues and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Working knowledge of franchising law is an advantage, but is not required.
- Knowledge of the operation of an accommodation/hotel business would be an advantage, but is not required.
