Job Title: Import Operator

We are seeking an experienced import operator to join our team in Adelaide.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in the cargo/air freight industry to take on various tasks including liaising with imports supervisors, data capture, and ensuring timely and accurate invoicing.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Branch Manager - Adelaide and be responsible for tasks such as:

• Liaising with imports supervisors to ensure timely pick-up of freight
• Liaising with airlines for flight information and freight availability
• Data capture of consolidation information and sending pre-alerts/document availabilities faxes
• Timely and correct billing to customers
• Cargo Automation of all consolidation
• Checking-in all freight within 30 minutes of receiving from the warehouse and processing check-ins before the end of day
• Reporting damage and surplus cargo to management immediately
• Processing import deliveries on the delivery counter as back-up when required
• Ensuring all jobs are invoiced and costed accurately within 24 hours (KPI)

Additional responsibilities include:

• Ensuring regulatory qualifications are relevant and current to the position and tasks undertaken
• Coordinating relevant training with reporting manager
• Attending training courses offered by the company to up-skill professional and industry knowledge
• Following and adhering to all security, customs, and quarantine criteria
• Maintaining a tidy and efficient work area
• Following and adhering to all safety and security policy and procedures
• Reporting incidents/accidents to reporting manager immediately
• Participating in regular import meetings to ensure good communications and direction is maintained
• Replying to telephone calls within 2 hours of receipt (KPI)
• Acting on customer complaints immediately in an effective and positive manner to ensure complete customer satisfaction

Required skills and qualifications include:

• A high school certificate or equivalent
• A minimum of 1-3 years' experience in the freight forwarding industry
• An over 95% data entry accuracy rate tested and over 40 wpm typing speed tested
• Knowledge in Excel computing software to understand spreadsheets
• Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Word to create documents and letters for business purposes

Qualifications and Requirements:

A high school certificate or equivalent

A minimum of 1-3 years' experience in the freight forwarding industry
