The Suburban Land Agency (SLA) is a pioneering agency focused on creating sustainable places where communities and environments can thrive. It achieves this through the smart and innovative development of affordable living, housing choices, and environmental sustainability to create a safe and healthy population valuing social inclusion and diversity.

As a visionary organization, the SLA buys and sells land on behalf of the Territory, ensuring a mixture of public and private housing and increasing the supply of affordable community and public housing. Its delivery program includes land for residential, commercial, industrial, mixed-use, and community purposes, as well as urban renewal in established town centres and suburbs.

Key applicants will have skills, experience, and professional expertise in leadership roles gained through serving on boards or in senior executive leadership positions with a depth of expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Urban design and planning
  • Social inclusion and community building
  • Affordable/community/public housing
  • Land-property development
  • Information Technology

Board members are appointed by the Minister for up to three years, with remuneration and other entitlements determined by the ACT Remuneration Tribunal.
