Key Role in Environmental Compliance
The position of Environmental Compliance Officer is pivotal in designing, implementing and managing environmental compliance systems and controls for the city.
This role entails ensuring that all aspects of waste management and environmental monitoring programs meet regulatory requirements, fostering a safe and sustainable environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective environmental compliance strategies across landfills and transfer stations.
- Oversee teams, contractors, services or sites with high regulatory compliance standards.
- Deliver complex improvement projects to enhance environmental performance and minimize ecological footprint.
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues relevant to work activities and work area.
- Prepare and manage reports for environmental initiatives.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
About You:
You will be a motivated individual with:
- Relevant work experience in waste management/environmental monitoring programs, rehabilitation plans/environmental industry and/or local government.
- Demonstrated expertise in team management, project delivery and budgeting.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including report preparation.
- A strong understanding of health and safety regulations and practices.
