Job Title:

Environmental Engagement Specialist

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Environmental Engagement Department through all aspects of environmental education programming. They will inspire environmental and conservation awareness, connection, and stewardship while complying with the mission, values, and goals of the department.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develops comprehensive lesson plans, prepares materials, and delivers assigned environmental engagement programs at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, focusing on discovery, learning, and messaging for reserved group programs and Conservation Investigations visitor experiences.
  2. Provides unique, interactive, and engaging experiences for program participants and visitors, ensuring their safety and satisfaction.
  3. Maintains order, enforces policies, and practices professional classroom, camp, tour, informal programming, and nature exploration management to ensure participant well-being.
  4. Coordinates and supervises volunteers, interns, and seasonal/part-time staff to achieve team objectives.
  5. Trains staff, volunteers, and interns on assigned programming, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  6. Manages and maintains all assigned programming equipment/supplies and facilities, including cleaning and maintaining EE Complex facilities.
  7. Utilizes the Point of Sales System accurately and follows established procedures for reserving programs and contacting participants.
  8. Collaborates effectively with other departments to ensure seamless operations.
  9. Adjusts work schedules as needed to accommodate programming times outside the typical work schedule.
  10. Provides exceptional customer service to visitors, program participants, and staff/volunteers.
  11. Builds and maintains professional relationships with external organizations and personnel.
  12. Remains current with industry developments, skills, and knowledge relevant to this position.
  13. Assists with events, promotional activities, etc., as required.
  14. Ensures the smooth functioning of the Environmental Engagement Department by preparing, organizing, cleaning, and maintaining equipment, facilities, and supplies.
