About the Role

The Gordon is seeking an experienced and passionate Koorie Student Support Officer to join our Kitjarra Wurrun-Ngeen centre. As a key contact for potential and current Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and the Aboriginal Community, you will play a vital role in supporting the effective operation of our Aboriginal Education Unit.

Reporting to our Coordinator Aboriginal Education Support and Experience, you will be involved in a range of tasks and activities that contribute to the achievement of successful learning outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at The Gordon.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support and guidance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, including academic and personal support
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the Aboriginal Community and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of programs and services that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High level of cultural awareness and understanding
