The role of an Editorial AI Prompt Specialist is pivotal in defining how artificial intelligence communicates with journalists. This position involves crafting sophisticated language systems that power newsroom tools, ensuring every interaction is precise, ethical, and aligned with editorial standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing, testing, and refining prompts to guide AI models to produce accurate and contextually appropriate responses for diverse journalistic applications.
  • Collaborating with editorial teams to build tools that enhance workflow efficiency while maintaining the integrity required by quality journalism.
  • Developing and fine-tuning sophisticated prompts to guide AI models to produce accurate responses.
  • Partnering with journalists and editorial teams to understand workflow requirements and translate them into effective AI interactions.
  • Defining and documenting excellence benchmarks for AI outputs, ensuring adherence to accuracy, relevance, tone, and editorial guidelines.
  • Building and maintaining a comprehensive library of prompt patterns and strategies for organisation-wide use.
Requirements:
  • Passion for journalism and understanding of modern newsroom operations.
  • Curiosity and demonstrated elementary coding experience, preferably Python, natural language processing (NLP), and prompt engineering using different models.
  • Strong grasp of language semantics and syntax, coupled with an experimental mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with both journalists and technical teams.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and unwavering commitment to accuracy.
