Metadata & Lineage Specialist Role

The Metadata & Lineage Specialist plays a vital role in managing enterprise metadata, tracking data lineage, and ensuring data transparency across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Metadata Management Frameworks: Implement and maintain metadata management frameworks and standards to support enterprise data governance.
  • Administer and enhance metadata repositories and data cataloguing tools.
  • Ensure that metadata is accurately documented, structured, and linked to relevant business and technical data assets.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, and taxonomy structures to improve data discoverability.

Data Lineage and Traceability:

  • Establish data lineage frameworks to track data movement, transformations, and dependencies across the data ecosystem.
  • Implement automated lineage tracking solutions to capture end-to-end data flow across databases, ETL pipelines, and reporting platforms.

Regulatory Compliance and Support:

  • Ensure that metadata and lineage processes align with regulatory compliance requirements (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOX, etc.).
  • Support audits, compliance reporting, and risk assessments by providing metadata insights and lineage maps.
