Job Opportunity

HSEC Department seeks an experienced professional to provide leadership and management for the MIM Environment team and functions across Mount Isa Mines and associated leases.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Environmental Science or similar, 8+ years' experience in an environmental field within the mining industry, and 5+ years' experience in a leadership role.

  • Provide effective leadership and management for the MIM Environment team and functions.
  • Lead environment professionals to deliver on business plans and maintain compliance with internal and statutory obligations.
  • Ensure effective interaction with the broader asset and regional HSEC teams.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Manage environment risks and ensure Environmental Authority obligations are known and understood.
  2. Enhance environmental management including air quality control, biodiversity and land management, surface and groundwater management.
  3. Manage environmental compliance, reporting and statutory investigations to facilitate pragmatic outcomes based on sound risk management and robust science.
  4. Ensure consistent high standard of regulatory communication across MIM.
  5. Develop and utilise team members through the implementation of clear responsibilities, development plans, performance management and succession planning.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Environmental Science or similar.
  • 8+ years' experience in an environmental field within the mining industry.
  • 5+ years' experience in a leadership role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft package including Powerpoint and Project, and data base management systems.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
