Job Title:
Environmental Leader - Mt Isa Mines

We are seeking a skilled Environmental Leader to join our team in Mt Isa. The successful candidate will provide effective leadership and management for the environment team, ensuring compliance with internal and statutory obligations.

About the Role:
As an Environmental Leader, you will lead a team of 16 environment professionals to deliver on business plans, maintain compliance with internal and statutory obligations, and effectively manage environment risks. You will ensure that environmental authority obligations are known and understood, operational support is effective, and compliance with environmental programs is maintained. You will also be responsible for enhancing environmental management, including air quality control, biodiversity, and land management, as well as managing environmental compliance, reporting, and statutory investigations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of environment professionals to deliver on business plans
  • Maintain compliance with internal and statutory obligations
  • Effectively manage environment risks
  • Ensure environmental authority obligations are known and understood
  • Operational support is effective and compliance with environmental programs is maintained


Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Bachelor of Environmental Science or similar qualification and 8+ years' experience in an environmental field within the mining industry. You will also need to have 5+ years' experience in a leadership role and be proficient in Microsoft package including Powerpoint and Project, and database management systems. Additionally, you will need to have highly effective written and verbal communication skills which can be effectively applied across all levels of the business and external and regulatory stakeholders.
