Senior Payroll Specialist

The University of Sydney seeks an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to provide expert leadership, guidance, and coaching to a team of Payroll professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of Senior and Junior Payroll Officers to oversee efficient and effective fortnightly payroll.
- Provide advice, guidance, and mentoring to Payroll Officers to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
- Participate in ongoing process improvement and various other projects, programs of work, and committees to align with the overall University's strategic direction.
- Ensure appropriate sign-off for any and all pay runs are documented, saved, and circulated.
- Responsible for team performance using metrics, benchmarks, and SLAs. Strong advocate of ServiceNow and associated performance dashboards.
Requirements:
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Experience in people management, including managing staff performance and development.
- Interpreting and applying legislation, enterprise agreements, and policies.
- Experience in end-to-end payroll processing and payroll administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Previous experience in a high-volume customer service environment.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment.
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
- Employment conditional upon completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University.
- Ongoing employment conditional upon satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements.
