About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and enthusiastic Senior Information Management Officer to lead a small Information Management team based in Emerald and contribute to a robust information management culture across every element of Council's operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure accuracy, currency, and security of all records and supporting data;
  • Manage information repositories of council, including electronic document management systems and physical records holdings;
  • Contribute to the ongoing maintenance, improvements, and integrity of council's Electronic Document Records Management system;
  • Lead the lifecycle management of records and all aspects of retention and disposal;
  • Develop and maintain a suite of Records and Information Management policies and procedures;
  • Establish and maintain recognition for reliance and trust across the organisation by providing guidance, support, and expert advice;
  • Deliver training to ensure broader organisational record keeping compliance and foster a positive information management culture;
  • Lead the annual disposal activities of councils' records;
  • Provide excellence in customer services and implement strategies and actions that are efficient and deliver timely services to all stakeholders;
  • Lead, motivate, develop, and support reporting staff;
  • Provide professional and accurate advice on the interpretation of relevant legislation regarding recordkeeping;
Requirements
  • At least three years' experience in Information Management;
  • Qualification in the discipline of Records and Information Management (or actively working towards) and/or relevant experience managing information systems and processes in a large complex organisation;
  • A well-developed understanding of legislative requirements relating to recordkeeping;
  • Experience in managing the retention and disposal of corporate records in accordance with Queensland State Archives (QSA) legislation;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the development of policies and procedures within the recordkeeping and information management environment;
  • Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers licence;
  • An understanding and knowledge of information security;
  • Experience in providing guidance and support to the organisation relating to recordkeeping practices and applying effective management of corporate information;
  • Sound written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail;
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and cloud-based platforms;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in groups as well as independently;
  • Experience supervising a small team within a medium to large organisation;
