
Consultant - Dementia Support Specialist

Our organization is seeking a passionate and dedicated dementia professional to join our team as a Consultant. This is a fixed-term full-time contract opportunity that presents a unique chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals living with dementia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert support to families, caregivers, and clinical staff to help them understand how dementia impacts each individual, promoting holistic care and improving quality of life.
- Develop and implement resources, including behavior support planning, to equip carers and clinicians with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to challenging behaviors effectively.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments that take into account the individual's and their care network's needs, informing contextualized reports that drive positive change on the ground.
- Collaborate with the broader team to build capability across the home and aged care sectors, fostering a culture of excellence in dementia support.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting people living with dementia – A person-centered approach to care, with a genuine commitment to empowering individuals and their families, is essential.
- Strong understanding of dementia, ideally within Australian residential and/or community aged care settings, including an appreciation for the unique needs of older people in regional and remote areas.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to share knowledge in a way that inspires change at all levels.
- Highly developed negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a focus on delivering exceptional results.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of stakeholder satisfaction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of effective stakeholder management.
- A current Australian driver's license and willingness to travel, with a strong work ethic and empathy for those affected by dementia.
- Relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care, or Mental Health is required.
