We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Attendant to join our team. As an Animal Attendant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the welfare and well-being of the animals in our care.
Key Responsibilities- Animal Care and Husbandry: Provide exceptional levels of care to animals, including general husbandry, dietary requirements, and enrichment.
- Animal Health and Wellbeing: Assist in animal health examinations, administer routine veterinary preventative treatments and medications, and ensure high standards of shelter cleanliness and hygiene.
- Training and Behaviour Modification: Provide training and behaviour modification for animals in care using positive, reward-based techniques.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and external agencies to ensure the needs of the animals are met.
- Record Keeping and Administration: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of animal care and shelter operations.
- Certificate II or III in Animal-Related Studies: An advantage, but not essential.
- Experience in Animal Husbandry and Handling: Verbal and visual identification and description of animal body language.
- Passion for Animal Welfare: A commitment to achieving the long-term goals of RSPCA Qld.
- Excellent Organisational and Communication Skills: Time management, conflict resolution, and office/computer skills.
