
Child Development Specialist

This position is a temporary part-time opportunity, working 30 hours per week.
The Family Support Program is an early intervention and prevention service designed to enhance children's development and wellbeing.
We work collaboratively with families to build on effective parenting skills and assist parents with concerns that impact their ability to parent, including child development, challenging behaviors, housing, domestic violence, relationship breakdowns, and community connections.
The successful applicant will work as part of the family support team, primarily focusing on working with families with children aged 0-12, but may also support families with children up to 18 years old.
Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating accredited and evidence-based parenting education and skills groups for children in schools and communities.
- Providing structured home visiting and short-term casework to families.
- Planning and delivering supported playgroups within targeted community areas.

The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Teaching, or a related field, plus 3 years of experience working with children and families.
- Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and experience of working with children and their parents/caregivers.
- Knowledge and proven skills in assessing child development and understanding child behavior.
- Experience running evidence-based groups for children, such as Drumbeat or Seasons for Growth, or a willingness to train in these programs.
- Experience in running parenting groups, such as 123 Magic or Emotion Coaching, or a willingness to train in these groups.
- Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality and accountability, including case records and team discussions.
