
Expert Trauma Counsellor Leader

This is a leadership position responsible for the operationalising of our strategic direction to ensure the therapeutic needs of clients are met.
- Provide high-quality trauma-focused counselling and therapeutic interventions, secondary consultation, education, and drive our vision of working with clients who require a specific response.
- Be a member of the leadership team supporting the championing of the need for early identification and the rights of older adults to be safe and free from victimisation, developing a co-ordinated responsive service, and supporting capacity within the current workforce.
- Offer consultation within our community on the issue of older adult sexual assault and family violence.
About Us
We provide services to adult victim/survivors and associated people affected by sexual assault and family violence, as well as adolescents exhibiting sexually harmful behaviours.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring demonstrated skills, experience, and knowledge, including:
- Clinical experience working with complex trauma related to sexual assault and/or family violence.
- Skills necessary for supporting people who have experienced sexual assault and/or family violence.
- Collaborative work with other professionals and agencies to enhance wellbeing and safety for clients.
Mandatory Requirements
This role requires:
- A relevant accredited Bachelor Degree or entry-level Master's Degree that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Written evidence of eligibility for AASW membership for overseas qualifications.
- Extensive experience as a qualified social worker.
- Accredited Social Worker: As approved by the AASW.
- Completion of a post-graduate qualification in a relevant field or working towards such a qualification.
Or
- Current general registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) AHPRA.
- Significant experience as a generally registered psychologist.
- Having or working towards supervisor endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Appropriate post-graduate qualifications (Masters or Doctoral Degree) in counselling, clinical, or forensic psychology in an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited course.
- Evidence of participation in clinical research activities.
Desirable
Post graduate qualifications in a relevant field or working towards same.
