Policy Strategist for Queensland Government

Eden Ritchie Recruitment is seeking an experienced Policy Officer to join a Queensland Government department.

Job Summary

The Policy Strategist will play a key role in the Strategy and Engagement Team, assisting the Director, Strategy and Engagement and Principal Policy Officer by participating successfully in strategic policy activities that enhance the operating environment for small businesses in Queensland and help fulfill the functions of the Office of the Small Business Commissioner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply sound knowledge of the principles and practices underpinning policy development and implementation strategies designed to meet government priorities and achieve organisational goals and objectives within complex and changing environments.
  • Demonstrate high-level capacity to work effectively under pressure, handle competing priorities and meet externally imposed deadlines either independently or as a member of a team.
  • Consult and share information and ensure self and others are kept informed and up to date on relevant policy matters.
  • Demonstrate high-level research and analysis skills, with a proven ability to initiate, monitor and report on complex projects within set timeframes.
  • Use your well-developed communication, consultation and negotiation skills with a demonstrated capacity to interact with a wide variety of key stakeholders.
Requirements
  • A tertiary qualification in public policy, governance, human-centred design (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience as a policy officer or similar role
  • High-level written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle competing priorities
  • Capacity to interact with a wide variety of key stakeholders
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 per annum, depending on experience.
