About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Grade 3 Occupational Therapist to join our subacute program at Caulfield Hospital. This dynamic role involves providing occupational therapy leadership across both inpatient and community home-based rehabilitation streams. The successful applicant will hold a caseload that focuses on rehabilitation for people with non-traumatic spinal injuries, as well as patients receiving home-based rehabilitation through the Alfred Health Better@Home service.
This role contributes to the leadership of an enhanced model of care for inpatients receiving spinal rehabilitation, working closely with a multi-disciplinary team to provide best practice spinal rehabilitation.
In addition, the successful applicant will play a pivotal leadership role within the Better@Home service, a rehabilitation bed substitution model aiming to provide comprehensive and intensive multidisciplinary rehabilitation services to patients in their own homes.
This position offers multiple leadership opportunities, including the application of evidence-based expertise to lead and develop new models of care. The successful applicant should possess a strong focus on quality improvement/research, with a passion for delivering innovative rehabilitation resulting in improved patient outcomes and experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and mentoring within the discipline of occupational therapy
- Contribute to the development of the Allied Health service and clinical programs
- Actively collaborate with the Allied Health Manager and Deputy Manager - Occupational Therapy, Grade 4 Occupational Therapy clinicians, and Occupational Therapy staff
- Represent Allied Health and/or their discipline at various internal/external forums (as directed by the Allied Health Manager - Occupational Therapy)
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or recognised equivalent
- Postgraduate qualification (Masters level) in one of Occupational Therapy, Public Health, Research, and/or Health Management or working towards same
- Full Registration held with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
- Member of OT Australia (or eligible for membership)
- Current Victorian Driver's License (unrestricted)
- Current Working with Children's Check
Essential Experience:
- Minimum seven years' clinical experience in occupational therapy, including a minimum of four years in a clinical specialty area
- Demonstrated clinical expertise and leadership in the area of clinical specialty
- Well-developed leadership skills, including the ability to undertake professional supervision and promote professional competence of other occupational therapy staff
- A clear understanding of Occupational Therapy Service strategic priorities specific to a large, public healthcare provider
- Experience in neurological rehabilitation highly desirable
- Demonstrated skills in the evaluation and implementation of evidence-based practice (experience with using telehealth to deliver clinical care is preferred) and modification of service delivery
- Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles of continuous quality improvement
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills to promote teamwork, and a proven ability to relate effectively to people at all levels of the organisation (prior job-share experience preferred)
- Effective project management skills
- Sound understanding of change management methodology
- Sound skills in organisation, planning, and priority setting
Estimated Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
