Electrical Design Engineer Job Description

As an electrical design engineer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of sustainable development.

This exciting opportunity involves working on projects that aim to make major works carbon neutral and sustainable. Your expertise will help us design and deliver innovative solutions that benefit both our clients and the environment.

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of heavy industrial and process plant projects
  • Apply fundamental knowledge of key Australian Standards
  • Client interfacing and collaboration
  • Design electrical, instrumentation, and control systems with precision
  • Utilize power systems software to drive efficiency
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in electrical engineering recognized by Engineers Australia
  • A minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in industrial projects, delivering quality results while meeting schedules
  • Applied knowledge of 'in-plant' electrical distribution (MV and LV systems) and motor control systems
  • Familiarity with relevant standards including AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008.1.1, and AS/NZS 2067
  • Experience across all project development phases, from concept to detail design
  • Ability to interact effectively with project managers, discipline engineers, and designers
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understanding of renewable energy, industrial communications systems, SCADA, PLC/DCS, Hazardous Areas, and Functional Safety is desirable
