Are you a skilled mechanical engineer looking for a challenging role in rail transportation? We are seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Design Engineer, where you will play a vital role in shaping the future of Sydney's rolling stock.
About the Role- This is a permanent full-time opportunity based at Clyde, with a hybrid work arrangement. You will be expected to attend the office or work on-site as required by business needs.
- Contribute to the design, development, and assurance of mechanical systems for passenger trains, ensuring our fleet is safe, efficient, and reliable for the people of NSW.
- Deliver mechanical and systems design support across the asset lifecycle, from feasibility studies and detailed CAD designs to third-party reviews and on-site support.
- Use modern design tools like CAD, FEA, and fracture mechanics packages, and apply robust engineering standards to create practical and cost-effective solutions.
- Participate in technical investigations, system upgrades, and assist in the assessment of designs by external vendors.
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering and experience in design or maintenance of mechanical systems—ideally in a rail or transport context.
- Confidence in applying engineering principles to real-world challenges, and a strong ability to communicate across stakeholders—from technical teams to project managers.
- Knowledge of current standards, asset lifecycle thinking, and problem-solving mindset, combined with excellent analytical and time management skills.
