SLR Consulting, a rapidly growing professional services consultancy, is seeking an ambitious Planning professional to join their national Planning team in Melbourne.

Job Opportunity

Due to continuous growth and project pipeline, especially within the extractive and construction materials sector, there is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Planning professional with 1-5 years' experience to work on a range of projects.

The APAC Planning team comprises a group of highly skilled statutory and environmental planners who enjoy exposure to a national project pipeline. In this role, you will work closely with not only the planning team but also industry experts who will mentor and provide opportunities for career advancement.

You'll receive technical development day-to-day while being part of a structured career development program. Whether you've recently started your career or are looking to take the next step, this opportunity is ideal for those eager to advance their skills and knowledge.

You will have the opportunity to work independently on small-scale projects as well as part of larger, multi-discipline teams working on complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assisting with preparing planning reports at both local and state significant scales.
  • Navigating complex approvals pathways under state and federal environmental and planning legislation.
  • Preparing feasibility reports and due diligence advice, providing strategic environmental advice on land use and development proposals.
  • Liaising with stakeholders including clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
  • Attending meetings and liaising with clients, councils, consultants & other government agencies.

You will be supported by Senior and Principal consultants to develop detailed knowledge and understanding of the Planning industry.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A university qualification in Town Planning or Environmental Planning.
  • 1-5 years' experience in town planning or environmental planning, ideally in consulting.
  • The ability to analyze and interpret situations and problems to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Experience in statutory approvals for industry, extractive industry, or environmental approvals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and high computer literacy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation, and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Australian citizenship or rights to work in Australia.
