About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Tradesperson to join our fabrication team. The successful candidate will have experience in fabricating and welding structural steel components.

The ideal candidate will be able to read, interpret and fabricate from workshop drawings, with a strong aptitude in the mig weld process. They will also have previous experience in structural steel fabrication and demonstrated safety awareness with understanding of OH&S practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal to required specifications and Australian Standard.
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the fabrication trade.
  • Label and sort manufactured plate material into product groups.
  • Mark-out, cut/drill/punch holes as required for plate material in accordance with fabrication drawings.
  • Layout, position, align and assemble components together in accordance with fabrication drawings and tolerances.
  • Mechanical cutting of steel and compiling of cutting lists from fabrication drawings.
  • Measure and cut raw materials with straightedges and high accuracy.
  • Move steel in workshop with overhead crane and forklift (where licensed and authorised).
  • Transfer fabricated components between production departments in accordance with production schedules.
  • Perform general housekeeping and maintenance of work areas, equipment, tools and facilities.

Requirements:

  • Trade Qualification in Boilermaking/Welding and experience in a similar position.
  • Ability to read, interpret and fabricate from workshop drawings.
  • Strong aptitude in the mig weld process.
  • Previous experience in structural steel fabrication.
  • Demonstrated safety awareness with understanding of OH&S practices.
