Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Practitioner to join our team as a Civil Litigation Specialist. As a key member of our State Litigation Office, you will provide expert legal advice and representation to the Tasmanian Government in civil matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as solicitor and counsel in civil matters involving the State and its Agencies before any State Courts, Tribunals, or Boards at first instance.
  • Provide advice to the State and its Agencies in respect of civil legal issues.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of legal policies, practices, and procedures of the Office.
  • Participate in performance management and file reviews as directed by the Assistant Solicitor-General (Litigation).
Requirements
  • Admitted or eligible for admission as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.
  • A Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (employment).
  • At least 2 years' experience in legal practice relevant to the duties of the position.
