Fortescue Metals Group is seeking a Mine Controller to ensure the safe, efficient and smooth operation of our mining fleet.

Job Description

The primary objective of this role is to manage real-time fleet performance and help adopt new system features and processes during our transition to Fortex fleet management system. Key responsibilities include monitoring and controlling fleet operations in real-time to ensure safety, efficiency and productivity, addressing issues promptly and escalating when necessary.

Fleet controllers will also assist in transitioning from our existing Fleet Management system to the in-house Fortex FMS system ensuring minimal disruption to operations. Implementing and adhering to new processes, workflows and standards that align with the adoption of the Fortex system is another key responsibility of this role.

In addition, mine controllers are expected to identify opportunities to enhance control room efficiency focusing on transitioning from active control intervention to an 'intervene by exception' model. This will enable the team to work more efficiently and effectively.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in mine control or similar operational roles within the mining industry.
  • Proficiency with fleet management systems such as Minestar, Fortex, or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience supporting transitions or implementations of new technologies or systems in an operational environment.
  • Familiarity with principles and practices related to autonomous mining operations is highly desirable.
