Traffic Planning Engineer

Core Talent Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Traffic Planning Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in traffic and transport engineering, with strong technical proficiency and ability to apply traffic engineering principles effectively.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled individual to contribute to the development and implementation of a safe and efficient traffic and transport system in the Local Government Area (LGA). Key responsibilities include undertaking traffic and transport impact assessments, developing policies and procedures, and providing expert advice on traffic and road safety matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake traffic and transport impact assessments of developments applications and land use rezoning proposals.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to strategic traffic, transport, and road safety matters.
  • Analyze and implement public transport systems in the LGA.
  • Provide Council with expert advice on traffic and road safety matters, including investigation, analysis, formulation of solutions, and preparation of reports.
  • Assist in the administration of the Local Traffic Committee, including preparation of reports and attending meetings.
  • Represent Council in NSW Land & Environment Court and community forums on traffic, transport, and road safety issues.
  • Seek necessary approvals, including advertising and technical advice for traffic management road permits, road closures, and traffic requirements.
  • Plan, manage, coordinate, and implement traffic and transport projects within agreed time frames.
  • Ensure effective liaison and communication with external organizations and stakeholders, including Transport for NSW and Department of Planning & Environment.
  • Manage tasks allocated by Transport Management, Team Leader, and Manager.
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 3-5 years' experience in traffic and transport engineering.
  • Strong technical proficiency and ability to apply traffic engineering principles effectively.
  • Sound knowledge of TfNSW guidelines and industry standards.
  • Confidence in reading, reviewing, and interpreting design plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to build strong relationships across teams and with the community.
  • High-level stakeholder engagement experience, ensuring positive collaboration and outcomes.
  • Customer service focus, including ability to respond to and manage a high volume of community requests in a professional and timely manner.
