Job Opportunity: Academic in Geography

The School of Education and the Arts is seeking a highly motivated academic to contribute to teaching, research and service activities.

As an academic in our School, you will have the opportunity to develop and deliver high-quality teaching programs, engage in quality research and scholarly activity, and support students across undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about advancing Geography and has enthusiasm for innovative teaching, a collaborative approach to research and scholarship, and the ability to build strong connections with students, colleagues, industry and community partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver foundation and profession-focused units in Geography
  • Engage in quality research and scholarly activity in Geography
  • Support students across undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels in Geography
Required Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A postgraduate qualification or equivalent in the field of Geography, Environmental Science or a closely related discipline
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to complete a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching / Education
  • Experience teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students using multi-modal delivery strategies
  • Proven research record with recent publications and ability to contribute to the School's research program

For Senior Lecturer position, additional requirements include:

  • Possession of a PhD in Geography, Environmental Science or a closely related discipline
  • Experience in team leadership and mentoring junior academic staff
  • Ability to develop engaging teaching materials and effectively collaborate with industry and community partners
