Security Officer II

Florida Tech is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer II to join our team. As a key member of our security department, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Visible Deterrence: Serve as a visible and proactive University representative, providing a secure environment for the University community.
- Conduct Patrols and Respond to Emergencies: Conduct patrols via foot, bicycle, and golf cart, provide services, access functions, and escorts as requested. Respond to all emergencies, coordinate law enforcement, medical, and/or fire assistance, and provide a proactive role after the emergency has concluded.
- Provide Safety Awareness and Information: Provide safety awareness through daily contact with the University community and visitors by providing general safety information, directions, and parking information.
- Identify and Mitigate Safety Hazards: Identify actual or potential safety hazards or conditions and coordinate a resolution with the appropriate department or area.
- Assist with University Operations: Provide assistance to University personnel in matters involving potential violations to University policy wherein conduct or behavioral expectations are disruptive to the mission of the University.
- Prepare Incident Reports and Maintain Activity Logs: Prepare incident reports and related written communication and maintain activity logs and utilize the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system as appropriate.
- Work Special Events and Provide Traffic Control: Work special events to provide traffic, parking, and crowd control as needed.
- Enforce Parking Regulations and Maintain Access Control: Assist the parking program by monitoring parking areas, issuing citations, and maintaining access to fire lanes, handicap spaces, and roadways owned and/or controlled by the University.
- Perform Initial Investigations and Provide Counseling: Perform initial investigations in the absence of the Title IX Investigator, ensuring all appropriate information and counseling is provided to the Complainant, then forward to appropriate staff.
- Valid Florida Driver's License: Must have a valid Florida driver's license and maintain a good driving record as determined by Florida Tech guidelines.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 2-5 Years of Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience required in area of expertise.
- Ability to Conduct Themselves Professionally: Ability to conduct themselves professionally, use of excellent acumen with university faculty, staff, students, dignitaries, and a multicultural community.
- Additional Certifications and Licenses: Additional certifications, licensing, degrees, and/or training in law enforcement, security, or related fields is preferred.
- State of Florida Licenses: Must have the ability to obtain a State of Florida, Class D: Security Officer License and a State of Florida, Class G: Armed Security Officer License within 30 days of hire date.
