About the Role

The Manager, Policy - State is responsible for leading the design and development of systemic advice, policies, positions, and projects related to vocational education and training (VET).

This includes developing holistic policy products and advice supporting the delivery of strategic objectives, including reform, across the skills portfolio.

The Manager will also lead the development of statewide initiatives informed by research and engagement, to support the implementation of strategic objectives and priorities at local level.

They will provide policy leadership and direction to staff, and contribute to the delivery and management of efficient work practices within the Team and Department.

The Manager will also initiate and conduct high-level planning design, and implement critical policies and reform initiatives.

Key Competencies:

  • Broad and expert knowledge of key skills sector architecture, policies, and initiatives at state, national, and international levels.
  • Experience in leading, managing, and undertaking high-level research and analysis in a range of sensitive and complex issues.
  • Able to develop, interpret, and advise on strategies, policies, projects, initiatives, and provide succinct reports to senior executives.
  • Able to lead staff and manage a team to deliver work programs and projects within timeframes.
