Job Description

As a key member of the mine management team, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our northern-based coal mine. Your primary objective will be to lead the production team to achieve business plan objectives in safety, environment, cost, and equipment performance.

This involves monitoring systems and processes applicable to your area of responsibility, identifying improvement opportunities, and developing alternatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

You will work closely with the mine management team to ensure that activities within your scope are aligned with the best interests of the mine.

  • Manage shift undermanagers and engineering coordinators
  • Review compliance with daily plans
  • Liaise with superintendents
  • Provide input into mine budgeting
  • Develop effective communication strategies for the production team

A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mine safety and environmental systems, excellent work ethic, commitment to site safety, and strong communication skills.

Required Skills and Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual with:

  • Diploma in Underground Coal Mining Management
  • Current practising certificate
  • 10+ years management experience in the mining industry
  • Risk management qualifications
  • ICAM basics – Accident/Incident Investigation
  • Certificate IV Leadership & Management
  • Strong computer literacy skills
