About the Role

We're seeking a talented Software Development Engineer to join our Internet Automation team in Sydney, Australia. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and operating global decision-making traffic optimization solutions for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop best-in-class software systems for automating Amazon's network
  • Provide technical direction to the team and identify areas of focus
  • Create and review software design documentation and mentor junior engineers
  • Collaborate with the Network Engineering teams to ensure fast, smooth roll-out of new designs and products
  • Operate the software you're putting into production
  • Create and review documentation and process regarding recurring issues, new standard operating procedures, knowledge transfer material, etc
  • Collaborate with the Network Engineering and Operations teams to automate and invent new ways of operating Amazon's Next-Generation Network

A Day in the Life

As a Software Development Engineer in the Internet Edge organization, you'll have a wide range of responsibilities related to global scale traffic optimization for our customers. You'll develop algorithms and build solutions alongside our partner teams, making decisions on both a day-to-day and long-term strategic basis.

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
