Legal Advisor

The Legal Counsel position at Penrith City Council is a critical role that requires a skilled and experienced lawyer to provide high-quality legal services to the organisation. As a Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of legal services, providing advice and representation to Council staff, and ensuring the organisation's compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

• Provide legal advice and representation to Council staff on a range of legal areas related to Council's operations
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services to the organisation
• Develop and implement effective legal strategies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Manage and maintain accurate records of legal matters and correspondence
• Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery of legal services

• Admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW
• Bachelor of Laws Degree
• Experience in Local Government and Planning Law
• Experience appearing as an advocate before Courts and Tribunals in planning and local government matters
• Experience in preparing and reviewing contracts and providing professional advice
• Ability to meet time constraints and work under pressure
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Commercial Law experience
• Property Law experience
• An awareness and understanding of Local, State and National trends in government that are likely to impact on Council

The successful candidate will be rewarded with a competitive salary package, including a salary range of $169,899.24 - $191,625.24 per annum, plus 11.5% Superannuation. Additionally, access to a Leaseback Vehicle or Motor Vehicle Allowance is available with this position.
