About the Role

The Chief Legal Advisor will provide expert legal advice and representation to Council staff on various legal matters related to Council's operations. This role requires a high degree of lateral thinking, adaptability, and the ability to work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality legal advice and representation to Council staff
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of local government and planning law
  • Prepare and review contracts, and provide professional advice on legal matters
  • Represent Council in Courts and Tribunals, as required
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting

Requirements

  • Admission as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW
  • Bachelor of Laws Degree
  • Experience in Local Government and Planning Law
  • Experience in advocacy and litigation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commercial Law experience
  • Property Law experience
  • Familiarity with Local, State, and National government trends and policies
