Job Description:

A rewarding opportunity exists to deliver best practice dementia support through collaboration and professional growth.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing lives by implementing evidence-based practices as part of the Dementia Support Australia Program.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting individuals, families, caregivers, and clinical staff to understand dementia impacts
  • Developing resources including behaviour support planning to prevent and respond to behaviour changes
  • Conducting assessments to understand the holistic experience of individuals and their care networks
  • Working in partnership with the broader Dementia Support Australia to build capability across the home and aged care sectors
  • Contributing to research, projects and programs to meet the changing needs of the sector

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting people living with dementia – A person-centred approach to care with a genuine commitment to supporting individuals and their families
  • Experience supporting older people, ideally within Australian residential and/or community aged care settings, including an understanding of the unique needs of older people in regional and remote areas such as Darwin and the Top End
  • Strong negotiation, communication and relationship building skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Stakeholder management
  • Empathy and patience
  • Relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care or Mental Health is essential
