Configuration Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Configuration Management Specialist to provide specialist technical advice and support engineering and sustainment outcomes.

This role involves applying Defence-standard CM principles (AS ISO 10007, DEF(AUST) standards) to establish and maintain configuration baselines, supporting the assessment and implementation of engineering changes, deviations, and concessions, and liaising with engineering, ILS, and project teams to ensure accurate tracking of technical data and effective decision-making.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist advice on configuration management practices to support engineering and sustainment outcomes.
  • Apply Defence-standard CM principles to establish and maintain configuration baselines.
  • Support the assessment and implementation of engineering changes, deviations, and concessions.
  • Liaise with engineering, ILS, and project teams to ensure accurate tracking of technical data and effective decision-making.
  • Contribute to configuration audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Prepare and maintain CM documentation, reports, and registers in line with Defence standards.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related discipline) OR equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Configuration Management within Defence, Aerospace, or a highly regulated technical environment.
  • Strong technical background in fuel systems and/or mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical data packs, and configuration documentation.
  • Knowledge of Defence acquisition and sustainment frameworks (CASG/ASDEFCON desirable).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Must be eligible for an Australian Defence security clearance (NV1 or higher desirable).
