Occupational Therapist Job Description

The role of an Occupational Therapist involves working with children to help them achieve their development milestones, such as fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. This includes activities like throwing a ball, getting dressed, holding a pencil or utensil.

Educating and involving parents, carers and others is also a crucial part of this role. They will be able to facilitate the development and learning of children, helping them to reach their full potential.

Additionally, the therapist will work with children who have developmental delays, teaching them everyday tasks such as bathing, getting dressed, brushing their teeth and feeding themselves.

They will also assist children with behavioral issues, maintaining positive behaviors in all environments. Instead of hitting others and acting out, they will use positive ways to deal with anger, such as writing about feelings or participating in physical activity.

  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for children.
  • Providing education and support to parents and carers on how to support their child's development.
