About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Mobile Engineering Native team. As a key member of our Retail Technology division, you will be responsible for steering the technology direction and core functions that underpin our award-winning CommBank Mobile App for both iOS and Android.

As a leader, you will instill a growth mindset and innovative ways of working, driving the evolution of the technical squad by contributing to the technology strategy, drafting quarterly crew memos, prioritizing the backlog, defining delivery roadmaps, and deciding which problems to invest in solving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead high-performing cross-functional engineering teams with a solid technical background, balancing hands-on contributions, coaching, and leading delivery.
  • Develop and implement technology strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize business needs, ensuring that technical solutions meet customer and business requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on technology, solution design, and architecture, ensuring that solutions are scalable, secure, and meet industry standards.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including user experience designers, customer operations, accessibility advocates, and product owners.
  • Effectively communicate engineering practice standards and consistent ways of working across squads and CBA, aligning to industry standards.
  • Constructively challenge the status quo, influencing stakeholders and building diverse and inclusive teams.
Requirements
  • Proven track record of leading a team of high-performing engineers with a solid technical background in modern iOS and Android stack.
  • Solid experience with architecture and design, code reviews, estimation.
  • Experience working in a large and distributed engineering ecosystem moving towards higher DevSecOps maturity.
  • An understanding of developing strong quality engineering practices within the delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and observability within a mobile context.
