Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Digital Content Strategist to drive the planning, creation, and management of all digital content across platforms in the lead-up to and during the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships. This role will be at the heart of the Championships' storytelling—shaping content from concept through to post, building community engagement, and capturing the energy of the event in real time.

This is a unique opportunity for a skilled Digital Content Strategist to take ownership of our social media presence and develop a comprehensive strategy that showcases the excitement of the championships.

  • Develop and execute a social media strategy that aligns with the overall marketing objectives of the championships.
  • Plan and manage daily content – including reels, short-form video, photography, graphics, and stories.
  • Collaborate with athletes, marketing and communications team, global volleyball channels, photographers, and videographers to deliver authentic and engaging storytelling.
  • Create social-first video and visual content to grow audiences, increase engagement, and capture the festival atmosphere of the event.
  • Recruit, brief, and manage a team of volunteer content creators during the event period, ensuring consistent coverage across matches, fan precincts, and activations.
  • Manage community engagement and fan sentiment – including moderation of comments, messages, and real-time fan interaction.
  • Produce and present reports on channel performance, content reach, and engagement.
  • Work with event partners and sponsors to deliver and amplify branded content across organic and paid social channels.
Key Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts for a sports team, event, or brand.
  • Strong knowledge of meta platforms.
  • Experience creating and editing video content for digital-first consumption.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends during the event.
  • Confident working in a live event environment with quick turnarounds and competing priorities.
  • Strong copywriting, visual storytelling, and brand alignment skills.
  • Team leadership experience (leading volunteers or small teams is a plus).
