Key Responsibilities of a Commercial Lead

The Commercial Lead is responsible for providing strategic advice and guidance to ensure compliance with legislation, policies, processes, and procedures across Canberra, Sydney, and Brisbane markets.

  • Advise on procurement planning, tendering, and contract formation, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Generate and review strategic contracting correspondence, providing high-level advice on commercially sensitive and technically complex reports, submissions, and documents.
  • Contribute expertise to guide and mentor others on technical and commercial risk principles, performance management frameworks, and procurement activities within Defence.
  • Apply technical and commercial risk principles and performance management frameworks related to procurement and contracting activities within Defence.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop and lead strategies for complex contracting issues.
  • Evaluate and design mitigation strategies for risks associated with procurement and contracting activities, contract performance, and legislative compliance.
  • Design and implement innovative solutions for complex procurement contracting issues, consulting as appropriate.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to support contract negotiations.
  • Develop Offer Definition and Improvement Activities and negotiation strategies.
  • Offer guidance on procurement planning, tendering, and contract formation, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Deliver key project documents and artefacts meeting CASG, JSD, and capability manager standards and schedules.
  • Conduct a 'knowledge transfer' service component, sharing skills and experience with Defence staff.
